Tape-in Extensions: How to care for them.

Ok, so you came to me for Tape-in hair extensions. So now what? Well first, you need make sure that you do not wash your hair for 24 hours. The tape-ins are still adhering to you hair; so to give it the best opportunity to stay on, no washing for 24 hours!

Also, you will need to follow these tips:

  • Brush 2-3 times a day. Hold hair tight near the roots and brush gently. I always include an extension brush at your first install. If you need an additional, they are $10 in the salon. To order a brush online, I recommend the Hairdreams Extensions Brush*.

  • Make sure hair is tangle free before washing.

  • Shampoo and condition 2-3 times a week. Lift tapes to cleanse in between and let water run between to rinse completely. You will shampoo* twice, then condition* once. Treatments* every other wash.

  • Do not get conditioner on tape or they will slip off.

  • Towel dry without rubbing back and forth. Brush gently when wet.

  • Always blow dry the extensions! (The tape can lose stickiness when left wet which will cause them to slip. It will also cause the extensions to become tacky and gooey)

  • Never go to bed with wet hair

  • Rough dry to 90% then use a round brush to smooth.

  • Always use heat protectant.

  • Straighten, Curl and style as normal but do not touch heat tools to the tape.

  • I always have the necessary products available for purchase in the salon. Or to purchase online, click on the links >> shampoo*, conditioner*, treatments*, styling products*).

  • Move-ups are every 6 weeks.

  • Always come with dry hair for move-up appts.

  • I do recommend coming with freshly washed tape-in extensions to your move-up appts. I do not wash the extensions when doing a move-up. I do wash your actual hair during the process to insure it is clean for the re-install.
